Victoria Jean (Chenoweth) Larkin, 69, a resident of Middlefield, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 19, 2022.
Vicky was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to Ronald and Betty Jean (Toothman) Chenoweth on September 9, 1952. She grew up in Chesterland and moved to her family farm in Montville when she was in eighth grade. Vicky loved to spend time outdoors playing baseball with her five siblings and kids from the neighborhood. It was at one of these backyard baseball games that she met her future husband, Mike Larkin.
Upon completing high school, Vicky attended Lake Erie Academy of Cosmetology in Painesville on a full scholarship. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike Larkin on September 22, 1973, in Chardon, Ohio. Vicky and Mike welcomed four daughters which they raised in Montville.
Vicky was very active in her church, volunteering in both women’s and children’s ministries. When her daughters were grown, Vicky worked as an educational aide for many elementary schools in Geauga County including Ledgemont, Berkshire, and Agape Christian Academy before her retirement. Vicky and Mike moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2015 where they lived for 5 years before returning to Geauga County to be closer to their family.
The joy of Vicky’s life was being the proud Mimi to her six grandchildren. She was extremely close with each of her grandchildren and was kept very busy cheering the kids on at sporting events and theater productions. She loved to check in with them via text and phone calls. She always made it a point to let them know she was praying for them, and she loved to send them emojis on her new iPhone. She regularly prayed 1 Timothy 4:12 over her grandchildren. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
Vicky is survived by her loving husband, Mike Larkin of Middlefield; daughter Mandi Matchinga and her husband Mike Matchinga of Parkman; daughter Melissa Babic and her husband Jayeson Babic of Chagrin Falls; daughter Johanna Newsome and her husband Andrew Newsome of Beachwood; daughter Melanie Slivka and her husband Brian Slivka of Mentor; grandsons Jared Newsome, David Matchinga, Zachary Newsome and Jackson Babic; granddaughters Riley Matchinga and Emma Babic; brothers Ronald Chenoweth and Rodney Chenoweth; sister Valarie Chenoweth; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
