Victoria Jean Kocis (Brothag) passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Siedman Cancer Center in Cleveland Ohio surrounded by her family. Victoria, known to most as Vicki, was born November 11, 1956 to Louis and Clara Brothag. She spent her childhood in Colebrook, Ohio and spent the majority of her adult life in Tempe, Arizona before relocating back to Hartsgrove, Ohio with her husband Duree.
Vicki will be welcomed into heaven by her parents Louis and Clara Brothag, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and Pete Peterson, Susan and Edward Slusher, and her nephew Aaron Allmon.
Vicki is survived by husband, Duree Kocis, her step-son Ben (Lana) Kocis and grandchildren Audrey, Emily, and Duree. Vicki will be deeply missed by her surviving siblings, Margaret (Roy) Gregory, Joseph Brothag, Louise Lavin, Thomas (Lezlie) Brothag, Catherine Michalski, Patricia (Richard) Waldo, Clara (Marty) Gargano, Louis (Wendy) Brothag, and Julia (Allen) Hartman.
Vicki loved photography and taking pictures, and sharing memories with everyone brought her so much joy. Our memories are in print because of Vicki. Vicki loved children, if there was a child in the room, Vicki was at her happiest playing, singing, and loving on all children. At family gatherings you would find her sitting at the kid table. She was a perfectionist, in a good way. This was because she wanted everyone to have a memorable experience. Her gardens over the years were evidence of how creative and loving she is.
If you visited her in Tempe, Arizona, or Hartsgrove, Ohio, you could not leave without a lasting impression of God’s creation through her hands and heart. Simply perfect, no weeds, no leaves, no twigs, immaculate pathways through gardens of mossy rocks and beautifully bloomed trees and flowers of every kind. She spent countless hours researching each flower to ensure it had a perfect environment to bloom. She held that same passion with everything she did. If you were a subject of her photography, you might have rolled your eyes a time or two while she staged the perfect shot, but Vicki always got the perfect picture, and then a perfect album of memories would be created. Many times, that would be her gift to the host or the person who was being honored.
Though our hearts are saddened by the loss of our loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, we know that she has gone to be with God, and all those that have left before her and she is without physical pain.
