Sidney "Sid" Saunders Obituary

 

Sidney George Saunders, 74, of Huntsburg Township passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at his home with family by his side.

The family is planning a private burial service as per Sid’s wishes.

Sid was born in 1947 in an Upwood pub called Cross Keys in England, Sid and his younger brothers David and Mervyn, were raised by their loving mother, Edith May primarily in the small village of Fenstanton.  He married Nancy Jeanne Hoffman on June 27, 1969. They were married for 52 years before he passed.

Sid worked hard and gave his best to everything he did.  He was a tinkerer, and always seemed to be fixing something.  Having grown up without much in England, he was proud of the home he built with Nancy.

A quiet and creative man, Sid’s sweet, funny, and loving nature was recognized by all who knew him.

He was a Molded Rubber Products Engineer earning his Engineer Apprenticeship at Barwell Engineering in England. He worked for Johnson Rubber in Middlefield and SAS Rubber in Painesville, retiring from Yokohoma (SAS) Rubber in 2013.  He was on the Parkman Vol. Fire Department.

 In his younger years he enjoyed sky diving, motorcycles, archery, fishing, bowling, and golf. He also participated in the community assisting with Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, youth baseball and soccer as well as the Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival. He enjoyed his family and attending many sport activities for all the grandchildren.

He and Nancy had begun traveling visiting many states and National Parks in their motorhome. They enjoyed visiting many relatives and friends as they traveled.

Sid leaves behind his wife, Nancy, daughters Vanessa (Michael) Vaccaro of Jackson Township OH, Heather (Rocky) Fresh of Camas WA, Michele (Robert) Csontos of Huntsburg OH and son Adam (Cassandra) Saunders of Franklin OH, Ten beautiful grandchildren Lauren, Emma & Alyssa Vaccaro, Wilson, Kenneth (Wade) and Charlotte Fresh, Morgan & Megan Csontos and Amelia and Oliver Saunders, and his brother David (Dorothy) Saunders of St. Ives, England. Sid was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Mervyn.
