Shirley Ann (Gotthardt) Majercak

Shirley Ann Majercak, age 89 of Nelson Township, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at UH Portage Medical Center. She was born on May 18, 1931 in Nelson Township, daughter of the late Herman and Katherine (Mauer) Gotthardt. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a 1949 graduate of Hiram High School. Shirley married Rudolph “Rudy” Majercak August 18, 1956.They were married 23 years before he died in 1979. She worked and retired from Geauga Hospital as a switchboard operator and was a delivery driver for the Adesa Auction. Shirley was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and was a member of the Quilting Bee at the church. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2705 in Garrettsville, and the Rubber Capitol Harmonica Club in Akron. She enjoyed traveling and was on several bowling leagues at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville. She especially loved being with her family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Shirley is survived by her son Dennis Majercak of Nelson, two daughters, Lynette (Charlie) Cain of Garrettsville, Diane (John) Dobies of Chagrin Falls, five grandchildren, Brian (Abbey) Cain, Alyssa (Ricky) Kuntz, Aaron Cain, Eric (Breanna) Dobies, and Kyle Dobies; four great grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, Reagan, and Leah. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rudy, two sisters, Lillian Puskarovich and Elizabeth “Betty” Hale, and four brothers, John, Ralph, Leonard, and Arnold. 

Calling hours will be held 10:00 – 12:00 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield. Burial will follow at Harrington Cemetery in Nelson Township.
