Sandra Polomsky Obituary

Sandra Marie ( Rucinski ) Polomsky,  78, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on May 9, 2022 at Burton Healthcare. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio April 28, 1944 to the late Edward and Stella ( Hancko ) Rucinski.

Sandra was a devoted Catholic and a loving homemaker until she had to work full time in the mid 1980's as her husband, Martins health deteriorated.

Most notably, Sandra worked at Mount Alverna Nursing home in Parma, Ohio, where she proudly helped care for the famous Chef Boyardee until his death. Sandra also worked at Geauga Hospital as a housekeeper for 25 years from 1986 to 2011. She primarily worked on 2 West and 2 South, often sneaking away to take a peek at the newborn babies in maternity. At retirement, she was a loving caregiver to her husband until the strain on her mental health took its toll. Her life was not easy. Caregiving is one of the hardest things a person can do when you love someone. Needing heart surgery in 2015, Sandra was relieved of her caregiving duties when her son Jeff and his wife Susan moved their loving family in to ease the stress along with her other health challenges. After Martin passed away in 2018, Sandra enjoyed full time focus on her care and being served like a Queen the remainder of her life. She deserved it!

In her early years, Sandra enjoyed camping, playing Pinnocole and Gin Rummy, gardening, flowers, angels, hummingbirds, spending time with family and loved shopping and buying gifts for her children, especially her grandkids at Christmas. Sandra also dearly loved her many dogs over the years. Especially Beagles.

She also sang in The Good Tidings Benefit Choir at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin for 15 years, sang in the Messiah! Choir concerts for a number of years and also enjoyed her weekly bowling league at Ernst Lanes in Chardon for many years. Later in life, she enjoyed the company of her loving family, pets, a good cup of coffee or peach tea, word searches, reading and watching Tom Selleck in Blue Bloods. Her life was simple but she was well taken care of.

Sandra is survived by her brother Ken (Carole) Rucinski of Marietta, Georgia; daughters, Rita (Russell) Warren of Newton Falls, Sharon (Darryl) Harper of Chardon; sons Matthew Polomsky of Middlefield, and Jeff (Susan) Polomsky of Middlefield; grandchildren Russell Warren, Terri (Dillon) Lewis, Amy (Brian) Hanzel, Leah (Matt) Nardi (pregnant with what would have been Sandras first great grandchild), Mia Polomsky, and Kaylie Polomsky, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lawrence Polomsky, Parents Edward K. Rucinski. and Stella (Hancko Rucinski) Hejna, brother Edward R. Rucinski, Sister in law Jo Anne Rucinski and infant daughter Anne Marie Polomsky.
