Ryan Arthur Naylor, 73, of Middlefield passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born November 19, 1949, in Warren, Ohio to Thomas Arthur Naylor and Gertrude Mae (Kelly) Swonger. Ryan graduated from Cardinal High School in 1968 and served in the US Navy as EM 3rd class on the USS Simon Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Cleveland sports and Ohio State fan. Ryan was the owner of Maggie’s donuts for nearly 10 years and managed the CVS in Middlefield for many years as well. After surviving a stroke in 2008, he found friendship and community in driving for the local Amish families near his home. Notably, Ryan was a recipient of University Hospital’s Phoenix Award, demonstrating outstanding character and effort during his stroke rehabilitation.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Andrew (Katherine) Naylor of Cincinnati, Caitlin (Reggie Williams) Naylor of South Euclid, granddaughter, Evelyn; his sister, Colleen Naylor of Columbus, and brother, Kevin (Joy) Naylor of Visalia, CA., 3 nephews, his aunt Kay Tisher, many cousins, and his stepmother, Elaine Naylor. He is also survived by stepsisters, Kerri Pfrenger, Kelli Kothera, Kristi Selby, Becky Priddy and stepbrotherJohn Swonger. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by stepfather Clarence Swonger.
Calling hours will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St. in Middlefield, OH 44062. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, followed by a burial in Middlefield cemetery.
