Richard "Rick" Underwood

Richard “Rick” E. Underwood, 56 of Orwell, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at UH Geauga Medical Center. Born on January 24, 1963 in Akron to Albert and Willie (Ellis) Underwood. He moved to the Ashtabula area in 1988 and married Marie Anderson October 4, 1988. Rick was a taxi driver for the Amish. He had the biggest heart; he literally took off his shirt for someone. He was very supportive to his family, friends and even strangers. He never missed work, even when he was sick. Rick was always amusing, joking and enjoyed his personal jokes with the women.  He enjoyed working in the garden and flower garden. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife Marie Underwood of over 30 years, two sons, Richard (Katrina) Underwood of Akron and Albert (fiancee Lucinda) Underwood of Orwell, his grandson Dalton Underwood, and three sisters, Judy (Willie) Talbert of Barberton, Donna (Ron) Wertenbaker of Mogadore, and Ruth (Kevin) Armitage of North Canton. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Underwood, and his sister Nancy Cummins.

Rick always said, “that when you go to his funeral dress casual.”

Calling hours will be held 4:00-8:00 PM with a Celebration of his life at 8:00 PM Friday, August 9, 2019 at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062.
