Richard E. (Dick) McCracken, aged 90, of Middlefield, OH passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, after a long and valiant struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Dick was born to Carrie and Albert McCracken on May13, 1934 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Steven Ray McCracken, brothers John McCracken, Albert “LeRoy” Jr. McCracken, and sister Judy Homer.
Dick retired from General Electric after 34 years. He was a member of the D.P.M.A., loved fishing, playing golf, and creating beautiful artwork with stained glass. His greatest enjoyment in life came from traveling with Shirley, his beloved wife of 41 years. They met with many friends as they crisscrossed the United States multiple times in their RV, including a trip to Juno, Alaska. The highlight of Dick’s travel adventures included trips to Africa, China, Ireland and numerous trips to Newfoundland, CA.
Dick will be greatly missed by his wife, Shirley, daughters Barbara McCracken (Bob) Bussa, Lisa (Dave) Craig, stepson Jeff (Karen) Pajestka, stepdaughter Karen (Eric) Bartowick, seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and his brother Jim McCracken of Florida.
Per Dick’s request, no formal services are planned. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Crossroads Hospice and the wonderful nurses, aids and staff at the south wing of UH Geauga Medical Center.
