Richard Aikens

Richard Aikens, age 79, of Huntsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Born on March 28, 1947, in Chardon, Ohio, Richard was the son of the late James A. Aikens and Alfair S. (Barr) Aikens. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and carried that spirit of dedication and service throughout his life. He was an machinist for Newbury Industries for 30 years. 

Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. On August 8, 1970, he married the love of his life, Christine (Hamilton) Aikens, with whom he shared many years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Aikens; his sons, David Romell Aikens and Robert Aikens; his daughter, Laura (Zlatan) Cvetkovic; his sisters, Henrietta M. Wilson, Catherine Haywood (Arthur), and Martha Hayes (Earl); and numerous grandchildren, Jericho Aikens, Kevin Byler, Justin Byler, Jaden Byler, James Byler, Caleb Patternac, Jaida Aikens, Joey Clutter, and Shelby Clutter.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John Aikens, James Aikens, and Theodore Aikens; sister, Flora Mae Law; and his daughter-in-law, Staci Aikens.  

Richard will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, and the many lives he touched throughout the years. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Richard's life, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:00 at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St, Middlefield, OH 44062. Pastor Marvin J. Walker officiating followed by Army Military Honors.
