Raymond "Ray" Oakford Obituary
Ray Earl Oakford 74 of Claridon Township passed away at his home Friday January 1, 2021. He was born August 26, 1946 in Cleveland to George B and Helen (Hovey) Oakford. Ray graduated from Newbury High School in 1964. He married the love of his life, Jean Davis August 30, 1965. Ray was a member of Ohio Operating Engineers Union, Cleveland Local #18. He was also a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury. Ray was a volunteer firefighter for Newbury Vol. Fire Dept. for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jean Oakford, mother, Helen Oakford, daughter, Christina Jean (Scott) Wilson, sons, Raymond D. Oakford, Daniel G. Oakford, 5 grandchildren, Brett Oakford, Connor Oakford, Zakery Oakford, Randy Bridges, Summer Bridges, sisters, Joann Turos, Patricia Cohagan, brothers, George Brown Oakford Jr, and Shawn Oakford. He was preceded in death by his father, George Brown Oakford, brothers, Scott and Jeff Oakford.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062.
