Obituary

Patricia Ann "Patty" Neilan, 68, of Warren, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Patty was born on March 22, 1955, in Punxsutawney, PA, to the late Robert and Sarah (Keith) Westover. She was the oldest of four children.
Patty's life was centered around her husband, six boys, and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She had a special bond with her coffee cup and could be found sipping on it all day long while engaging in wonderful conversations. Patty had a knack for being brutally honest, but it was always tempered with wisdom and a quick wit that could instantly put a smile on your face. Patty had a special way of making you feel better with her wise words and sense of humor. Whenever you needed someone to listen or offer advice, she was always there, ready to lend an ear. She had a generous heart and would give you whatever you needed.
She cherished spending quality time with her loved ones, reading her Bible, catching up on soap operas, and collecting various items, especially word searches from the Sunday paper.
In addition to her family and faith, Patty had a passion for cooking. Her kitchen was a gadget paradise, packed with every quirky utensil and high-tech appliance you could imagine. Yet, despite the impressive collection, she had a peculiar habit of ignoring them all and relying on her ancient pot and basic utensils. It was a comical dance between gadget galore and old-school simplicity in Patty's culinary world, where her shiny collection sat largely untouched while her timeless favorites took center stage.
One of the most unforgettable moments of her life was when she fearlessly rescued her five children from a burning house on January 15, 1979.
Patty is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Thomas Neilan, as well as her first husband and dear friend, Marvin R. Miller Sr. She leaves behind her six sons and their partners: Marvin R. (Alonda) Miller Jr., Michael R. (Heather) Miller Sr., Matthew R. (Jamie) Miller, Marc R. (Matthew) Miller-Gillenwater, Mitchell R. (Raymond) Miller, and Shawn T. (Amanda) Neilan.
Patty was also a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Jade, Amber, Mikey, Tiffany, Athena, Travis, Steven, Tessa, Matthew, Trystan, Sophia, Ava, and Cash. She also had five great-grandchildren.
Patty is also survived by her three siblings: Robert (Judy) Westover, Brenda Havel, and Brian (April) Westover, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Joshua Havel.
We warmly invite friends and family to gather and commemorate Patty's life. Calling hours will be held at Sly Family Funeral Home, located at 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, on Saturday, May 20th, starting from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM immediately followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM.
