Max S. Loze, 95, of Middlefield passed away Sunday December 11, 2022, at UH Geauga Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born February 24, 1927, in Huntsburg to the late Max and Rose Loza. He served in the Army until coming home to help with the family farm. Max worked for Johnson Rubber, Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, and Schloss Paving, where he retired in 1991. He also had his own company, Loze Asphalt and Paving. He was a member of Middlefield VFW Post 9678. Max enjoyed listening to Polka Music, going to fair grounds to hear Chardon Polka Band, playing the lottery, going to his grandchildren sporting events, and most of all spending time with his loving family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, whom he married January 27, 1956, Irene (Nesterak) Loze, his children, Rob (Karen) Loze, Al (Evelyn) Loze, Marcia (David) Pleva, Karen (Bryan) Retych, 8 grandchildren, Melissa (Rich), Kala, Shelly, Megan (Donnie), Zach (Alyssa), Samantha, Max, Emily, 2 great grandchildren, Allie and Brodie. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Mike, Steve, Richard, Nick, Anna Toth, Mary Parnaby, and Helen Loze.
Calling hours will be held Thursday December 15, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Funeral Home Friday December 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nepoleon Harris officiating, followed by a burial and Military Honors by Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459 Burton, in Middlefield Cemetery.
