Mary Jo (Cumiskey) Senter

Mary Jo Senter (née Cumiskey), 83, of Chardon, passed surrounded by her family on February 1st, 2026.

Mary Jo was born in Hagerstown, Maryland to parents Joseph and Mary (née Beeler) Cumiskey. She is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Terry Cumiskey, and her beloved husband, Harve Senter.

Mary Jo earned her bachelor's degree from Bethany College and soon thereafter began a long, rewarding career as an educator and librarian. Her marriage to her husband Harve was the foundation of many beautiful memories over several decades, shared with her three sons and six grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her faith as a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving her community in several different roles over the years.

Mary Jo was an excellent cook who loved animals, reading, birdwatching, and spending time with her family. She will be sorely missed by her sons Joe (Jenny), Marc (Dena), and Adam as well as her six grandchildren Tino, Vinny, Luca, Mia, Gianna, and Matty.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 12455 Merritt Road, Chardon, Ohio. The Funeral will also be at the church following calling hours at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place after the service at Chardon Township Cemetery.
