Mary Elaine Dillon (Hoover) of Chatham, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Saturday January 7th, 2023 at home with family.
Born April 13, 1944, in Plymouth Run, West Virginia to Ralph and Reva Hoover. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1963. She married her loving husband Allen Leon Dillon on June 20, 1963, and together over the 59 years had and raised 2 wonderful children, Brian (Mary) Dillon, and Michelle (Mark) Lightner.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Allen (Jelena), Nicholas (Beth), Brandon (Rachel) and Joseph as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Sisters Aretta James, Avnell Keener, Sharon Roberts (Alvin), Sheila Caulkins (George), Sister-in-Law Pee Wee and numerous other family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph Jr. and Carson.
After leaving West Virginia, she and her husband moved to Cleveland, Ohio while finally settling in Chatham, Ohio to raise their family.
Elaine (as she went by to family and friends) was a devote Baptist, worshiping at Litchfield Baptist Church in Litchfield, Ohio serving as the Church Secretary for over 40 years.
In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she spent time as an assistant schoolteacher, worked at Spencer Screw, and eventually retired proudly from Sears, while also belonging to the Chathams Womens Auxiliary League. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting,
gardening, canning, camping & spending time with family & friends.
Calling hour will be held Saturday January 14, 2023, from 12:00 PM until her Funeral Service which will be held at 2:00 PM at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield Ohio 44062. Pastor John Smith from Litchfield Baptist Church officiating. She will be laid to rest in Huntsburg Township Cemetery following the services.
Those who wish may make donations to Cleveland Clinic Hospice or a good cause of their choice in her honor, in place of sending flowers.
