Martin “Marty” Allen, 64, of Champion, Ohio passed away Monday December 20, 2021, with his loving family surrounding him. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on December 14, 1957, to the late John and Elma (Ungar) Allen. He proudly served his country in the US Army for three years working as a Military Policeman. He married the love of his life and queen of his heart, Sue (Hunt) and they shared a total of 23 years together. He worked currently as the Head Custodian at Essex Elementary School for the Akron Public School System. Marty loved to collect ducks, especially mallards, fishing, bingo, casinos, and anything to do with food. He loved to be outdoors in nature, was a die-hard Browns fan, and the biggest jokester and comedian. Marty did not have a “filter” and would just tell you like it was. When visiting home, Marty and Sue loved to eat at White House Chicken and Bellgrades Garden. He was the life of the party. He loved to spoil his wife Sue, all his children, grandchildren, and a recent new great-grandson. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be truly missed.
Marty is survived by his wife Sue (Hunt), his daughters Jessica (AJ) Jacobsen, Stephanie (Aaron) Lambert, stepdaughters, Jenny Hackathorn (Mark), Krista (Dan) Ziegler, Elizabeth (John) Tuohy, stepsons, William “B.J.” (Kelley) Mekker, Matthew Wasko, Cody Wasko, sister Diana Mac Hammer, brother Danny Allen, 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and many family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Allen.
A Gathering of family and friends will be Monday, December 27, 2021,from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
