Marjorie Zinsmeister Obituary

Marjorie C. Zinsmeister, 94 of Middlefield, passed away Friday morning, September 18, 2020 at her home. She was born in Barnesville, Ohio on June 19, 1926, daughter of the late William A. and Nada (Wiley) Crawford. She graduated from High School and worked in Barnesville, Ohio, a place that will always be home. She also held jobs in Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Mentor, OH and in Geauga County, OH. She retired in August of 2000 after 19 years in the office of Geauga Board of Commissioners. In 1953 she met Rev. Robert Zinsmeister from Zanesville, OH, at the time he was serving a “four-point charge” of the Methodist Church nearby. They were married August 28, 1955 in the First Presbyterian Church of Barnesville. Together they served churches in Quaker City, Batesville, Salesville, and Salem. In 1956-1959, served a church and lived in Chicago. In 1959-1966, they lived in Mentor Headlands, serving in North Mentor Methodist Church. Wanting to make Middlefield their home, they moved to Middlefield in 1966, where Rev. Bob served as Pastor of the 1st United Methodist Church in Middlefield until 1973.  Marjorie’s main interests were serving the church in any capacity she could. She enjoyed music (Piano and choir, traveling, reading, and for several years enjoyed visiting the Amish stores in the Middlefield area. She especially liked to introduce family and friends to the Geauga Treasurer. In the last few years, she enjoyed adult coloring, thanks to her good, caring doctor Dr. Reid. She was blessed to have caring care givers, Esther, Emma, Susan, and Katie.

Marjorie felt richly blessed by a wonderful family, interesting challenging jobs that brought many people into her life, especially her Godly caring husband Bob for almost 59 years. All because of a loving God, faithful Redeemer and Saviour, Jesus Christ who was in her life for as long as she can recall.

She is survived by her brother William (Barbara) Crawford, her sister-in-law Beverly Crawford, nephews: Michael (Jana) Crawford and Mitchell Crawford, nieces: Tina (Robert) Greenwood and Melissa Crawford, three great nephews: Drew (Lexie) Greenwood, Chris (Kelsey) Crawford, and Coby Crawford, and her great niece Danelle (John) Dudzik, 4 great-great nieces, 1 great-great nephew, and Payton and Gunner Dudzik, Ellie, Mollie, Josie Greenwood, many of Bob’s family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her brother Robert, sister-in-law Nancy Crawford and niece Tammy Crawford.
