Madge “Elaine” Naylor, 87, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully, Sunday September 10, 2023, at home with her daughter in Montclair, VA. She was born May 20, 1936, in Cherry Valley, Ohio to the late Gayle Oaks and Leta May (McCleery) Williams.
Elaine graduated from Middlefield High School and from Kent State University with an associate degree in business administration, after years of night school and trying to raise three daughters. She worked as a secretary at both Geauga Industries, in Middlefield and Stock Equipment Company, in South Russell. Upon retirement, she traveled the US with her husband in their fifth wheel camper. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed reading mysteries, listening to Johnny Cash and playing pinochle with friends and family.
She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Kerri (Edward) Pfrenger, Kelli (Rick Matzek) Kothera, Kristi Selby, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and stepchildren, Colleen Naylor, and Kevin (Joy) Naylor. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and true love, Thomas A. Naylor, sisters, Beverly Frain, Roberta Pearce, Joyce Robertson, brothers, Roger and Lynn Williams and stepson, Ryan Naylor.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 29th, starting at 1:00 pm, with a Time of Sharing by family and friends beginning at 2 pm, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, Ohio 44062. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Middlefield Cemetery, immediately following. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Middlefield Historical Society, PO Box 1100, Middlefield, OH 44026.
