Lawrence Frank “Larry” Lukasik

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence Frank “Larry” Lukasik, 79, of Burton, on Saturday, July 20, 2025, after a brief illness. Larry’s warm presence and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born in Cleveland to Raymond T. and Dorothy E. (Downey) Lukasik, Larry grew up with a love for sports and a deep sense of pride in his roots. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School before going on to Michigan State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Larry’s time at Michigan State was marked by his passion for football, playing on the National Championship-winning teams of 1965 and 1966. Those memories of teamwork and triumph stayed with him throughout his life, and he never stopped being a proud Spartan.

Larry’s career was a blend of hard work and dedication. He spent many years in the plastics industry, first in sales at Sajar Plastics and later as General Manager at Nescor Plastics Corp in Mesopotamia. But it was notjust his work ethic that made him special—it was his genuine care for others, his commitment to doing things the right way, and the relationships he built over the years.

Outside of work, Larry had a zest for life. He loved the game of golf, and anyone who spent time with him on the course knew that he was always striving for the perfect swing. He was an enthusiastic armchair coach, never shy to share his thoughts on football games, and his excitement for the game was infectious. Perhaps lesser known, but equally important to him, was his love for pickleball—a game he took up long before it became a national craze. Whether it was on the court or at home, Larry’s sense of humor and competitive spirit made every moment memorable.

Larry’s greatest joy, however, came from the family he cherished deeply. He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Diane (Richards) Lukasik, whom he married on April 21, 1990. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and mutual respect. He was the proud father of four daughters—Sandy Lukasik of Aurora, OH, Kelly (Dr. John) Thomas of Newport Beach, CA, Shannon (Anton) Lanesky of Hiram, OH, and Kelly Shively of Middlefield, OH—and the adored grandfather of Julianna, Danielle, Johnny, Anton, Brennan, Cole, Peyton, Jordan, and Alexis. Larry’s legacy lives on in the lives of his children and grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close.

He is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Linda) Lukasik of Florida and John Lukasik of Nevada, who, along with his extended family and many friends, will carry his spirit in their hearts.

A Memorial Mass to honor Larry’s life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 26th with a celebration of life to follow at 11:30 am at St. Edward’s Catholic Church at, 16150 Center St, Parkman, OH 44080, with Father Jacob Bearer officiating.
