Joy D. Stout, age 83, of Cortland, Ohio formerly of Middlefield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley in Poland, Ohio.
She was born on January 2, 1943, in Meadowbrook, West Virginia, the daughter of the late William J. Lipscomb and Ruby E. (Keener) Lipscomb.
Joy worked at the Cardinal Restaurant and Eppley Products before dedicating herself to her family as a homemaker. She was a hardworking and caring woman who found joy in caring for others throughout her life. She formerly attended Burton Congressional Church with her mother. Joy enjoyed watching the wildlife from her picnic table, flower gardening, working on puzzles and caring for her Collie puppies. She always said that sunshine was very therapeutic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Joseph Stout, who passed away on November 23, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Shelby Rector and Betty Stout.
Joy is survived by her loving sister, Billie (Chuck) Taylor of Cortland, Ohio, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday July 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM until her Service at 12:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062. Joy will be laid to rest at Middlefield Cemetery following the service.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate care they provided during Joy's final days.
