John Richard Sudyk Sr 101 years old passed away on 1/18/24 at the Thistle House Senior Living Home in Chardon, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Helen (Billie) Sudyk, brother Nick Sudyk, sisters Mary Schroeder, Julia Guzik, Helen Schaefer, Dorothy Lukasik, Joan Heady and father Alex Sudyk and mother Mary Sudyk, and grand daughter Catherine Brown.
He is survived by his daughter Lucinda (Cindy) Hopkins, son John (Jack) Sudyk Jr, Grandson Christopher (Chris) Hopkins, and Great Grandchildren Haley and Madison Brown.
John was a true member of the greatest generation. Served our country in WWII from D Day to the end of the war. In his later years he recounted his experiences in books and speeches educating the public to value the true experiences of WWII veterans.
John was the Head of Engineering at Johnson Rubber Company holding many patents in the Rubber Industry, Vice President at US Molding, member of the Cardinal Board of Education, award winning photographer, painter, wood carver, and Ukrainian Easter egg artist, adamant supporter of his children's athletic and scholarship careers, caretaker of the 200 year old Clarke Farm, and avid fisherman his entire life. He was a mentor to many young people and business associates giving them excellent advice in life and business.
He always had a joke for everyone to brighten up their day.
Services for John will be held at the Huntsburg Congregational Church, 12435 Madison Rd, Huntsburg, OH 44046, Monday January 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor RJ Zupancich officiating. Burial will take place following the services in Huntsburg Cemetery.
