John Henry Pierce, 90, of Burton, formerly of Claridon, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, with his family by his side.
John was born on May 1, 1935, in Kirtland, to Adison and Minnie (Kiel) Pierce. After graduating, he worked as a skilled carpenter for Pierce Brothers Building and later for Ernie & Sons Hardwood Floors, taking pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic.
John married Lois Ferguson, and together they raised a loving family of 6 children. He enjoyed “old” country music, showing horses, woodworking, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also faithfully followed the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. John will be remembered for his dedication to family, his hands-on talents, and the joy he found in simple pleasures.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Edward Pierce, Linda (Robert) Taurisano, and Joan Thomas, daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Pierce and Debbie Ruble; grandchildren, Cory (Laura) Pierce, Heather Ball, Anthony (Kriste) Pierce, Ryan Burzanko, Ryan Pierce, and Brayden Axel Pierce; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Lois, John was preceded in death by his sons John, Jimmy, Fred, Robert, brothers, Ernie, Bob, Rich, and Ray; his sister Sharon; his daughter-in-law, Linda Pierce, and granddaughter, Crystal Pierce.
