Joan E. Ray

Joan E. Ray, 79, of Hambden, formerly of Gustavus, Ohio passed away on Monday July 24, 2023, at UH Geauga Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland Ohio to the late Carl and Beverly (Porterfield) Evans on September 23, 1943. Joan graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville in 1961. She went on to marry her husband Howard Ray in 1962.

Joan had an array of interests. She liked to bake, garden, play cards and board games. She loved animals and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She attended Rock of Grace church in Kinsman and Believers Fellowship Church in Warren, Ohio. Those that knew Joan would say that she had a very peaceful spirit. 

Joan will be greatly missed by her children, Donna Anderson of Middlefield, Susan (Daryl) Legg of Hambden, grandchildren Nick (Brandi) Legg, Daniel (Stefanie)Saccomen, Phil (Joelene) Anderson ll, Timothy (Stephanie) Brewster Jr., Alex Anderson, Alec Legg, 8 great grandchildren, siblings Claire (Doug) Gillespie, Debbie (Kerry) Joyce, and Tom( Karen) Evans, along with many nieces and nephews and cousins, and life-long friends..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ray, son Daniel Keith Ray, and son in law Phil Anderson.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Sly Family Funeral Home 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio from 5:00-8:00 PM. 

Memorial donations can be made in Joan’s name to a charity of your choosing. 

The family would like to thank Denise Silbaugh and Leona Byler for their loving care and friendship to Joan over the past couple of years.
