Jimmy Stout Obituary

Jimmy J. Stout, 82, of Middlefield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the David Simpson House in Cleveland, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 15, 1942, in Smithfield, West Virginia, to the late William and Bernice Pearl (Lipscomb) Stout.

Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he worked in manufacturing for Structural Fiber Co. in Chardon, where he spent many years as a dedicated employee.

Jimmy was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and gardening—hobbies that kept him connected to nature and his roots. He was also a loving husband and family man, and he was married to his beloved wife, Joy Delight (Lipscomb) Stout. Together, they shared a life filled with love and support.

He is survived by his wife, Joy, and his brother, Stephen "Steve" Stout of Adel, Iowa. His sisters, Helen Myers of Woodsfield, Ohio, Norma Fulton of Marietta, SC, and Susie Talkington of Mannington, WV, along with his sister-in-law Billie (Charles) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert "Jake" Stout, Chester "Jack" Stout, William "Bill" Stout, Francis Stout, Franklin "Frank" Stout, and one infant brother. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Corrigan, Jettie Osenbaugh, and four infant sisters.

Although Jimmy did not have children of his own, he was dearly loved by a host of nieces and nephews, who will remember his kindness, wisdom, and the joy he brought to their lives.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation will be at 12:00 PM until his funeral Service 1:00 PM on Monday December 2, 2024 at the Sly Family Funeral Home 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062, Pastor Mike Continenza officiating. He will be laid to rest in Middlefield Cemetery following the services. 

Jimmy’s legacy of love for family, his country, and the simple pleasures of life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Jimmy's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the David Simpson House for their compassionate care during his final days.

Rest in peace, Jimmy. You will be deeply missed.
