Jeanne Vinecourt Obituary

Jeanne K. (nee Beal) Vinecourt, 82 of Burton, passed away July 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 10, 1937 in Cleveland to the late John and Regina (Kinzel) Beal.  Jeanne married the love of her life Joseph H. Vinecourt Sr. on May 30, 1957 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Cleveland, Oh. They moved to Geauga County where she worked with her husband at the family IGA Store in Burton, and then started her family and became a homemaker. As the children grew, she started working for the Berkshire Schools as a Crossing Guard and then worked at Burton Elementary and High School and was recognized by many students as the “Lunch Lady”. She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church, the Tuesday Club, the Dolphins Club, Young of Hearts, Burton American Legion Aux., and the Burton Vol. Fire Dept. Aux. She enjoyed traveling, working at The Great Geauga County Fair selling Tickets, collecting antiques, dolls, working with ceramics, loved her Border Collies, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians. She was at the game when the Indians won the Pennant in 1948 and was very good at persuading the Nuns to close school early so they all could go to an Indians game. She loved life and tackled it with Faith and a positive attitude and could often be heard to say, “If you can laugh at yourself, you will never ceased to be amused!”.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Joseph H. (Patty) Vinecourt Jr., of Middlefield, Judy Vinecourt-Nuzum of Middlefield, John (Jen) Vinecourt of Burton, Jerry Vinecourt of Burton, Jim (Jill) Vinecourt of W. Farmington,  Jeff (Gina) Vinecourt of Bremerton, WA, and  her grandchildren, Jillian Vinecourt, Amanda Vinecourt, J.J. Vinecourt, Melissa (Nick) Derico, Emily Nuzum, Justine Vinecourt, Jaclyn Vinecourt, great-grandson Logan Derico; her siblings, Nancy Sauer, Jack (Susan) Beal, Joe (Barb) Beal, and many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Vinecourt Sr. and her sister Kathy Duddey.

The Family will be having a Private Mass at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Welton Cemetery in Burton, Oh.

In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made in her name to one of her favorite charities, the St. Joseph's Indian School 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
