Jeanne C. Schaefer (nee Sleith), age 90 of Chardon, passed away at Hospice of the Western Reserve on November 20, 2020 due to complications from colon cancer. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 3, 1930 to the late James and Nellie (nee Stevens) Sleith. She was adopted and raised by her Aunt, Emma E. Sleith upon the deaths of her parents. She resided in the Chardon area most of her life.
Jeanne was married to the late John (Jack) Schaefer on May 12, 1951 until his death in Jan. 1981.
She was a devoted homemaker and besides caring for her family she volunteered at her children’s schools, in the Pediatric Dept. at Lake West Hospital and Geauga Hospital. She also helped run the Chardon Teen Club housed by the Pilgrim Christian Church in the late 60’s and early 70’s. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren & their friends, going to zoos, museums, parks and especially The Great Geauga County Fair, The Maple Festival, & The Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival. She attended sporting events, concerts, school programs and all activities her children, grandchildren, and friends were participants.
She loved to travel throughout the U.S., Canada, & Mexico with her family, her favorite place was Sanibel Island, FL.
She is survived by her children Joyce (late Jeff) Campbell, Jim (Rita) Schaefer, Jan (Todd) Miller, John (Nedra) Schaefer, grandchildren; Jefferey Campbell, Jacki Campbell, Jamie (Austin) Saunders, Kevin (Devon) Miller, John Schaefer, great-grandchildren; Ben & Camden Saunders, Josie Miller & Lincoln Schaefer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her parents.
