Jeanne Portman Obituary
Jeanne Rafie Portman, 92, of Troy passed away Saturday October 1, 2022 at her daughter's home in Gold Canyon AZ. She was born in Burton June 19, 1930 to the late William S. and Margaret O.(Gulliam) Rafie. She graduated from Burton High School 1948. Jeanne married the love of her life Richard Louis Portman June 13, 1954. She enjoyed cheerleading, singing and sewing (4-H) in high school. Jeanne was a member of the National Honor Society. She also enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling, swimming, reading and most of all raising her family. She loved spending time with the grands!
She will be sadly missed by her children, Becky (Judy Mellinger) Portman, Jeannine (Scott) Reeves, Rick Portman, Jimmy (Lisa) Portman, Peni Portman, and Lance (Shannon) Portman; a sister, Joanne (Don) Cimorell, a brother, Dale (Lois) Rafie. 12 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She also has 6 nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Geraldine Thomas and her niece Betsey Thomas.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday October 12, 2022 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, OH 44062 and Thursday October 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the Celebration of Her Life, 11:00 AM at Burton Congregational Church, 14558 W Park St, Burton, OH 44021 with Pastor Bob Richardson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Newbury Center Cemetery.
