At 93, Jeanette (Waage) Stanton, passed away peacefully in her home on November 28, 2022. She was born on September 10, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents Einar and Gunvor (nee Danielsen) Waage were proud naturalized American citizens from Norway. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Edith James of Chesterland, a brother Einar Jr. of Huntsburg and her sweet grand-daughter Kristen (Stanton) Hoover of Wadsworth, Ohio who passed away on May 26, 2021.

Jeanette graduated from East High School in Cleveland, Ohio and worked at Mount Sinai hospital before moving to Huntsburg where she met and fell in love with the boy next door- Calvin Stanton. They were happily married for 69 years before his death in 2019.

They raised 6 children together. Mom worked at both the Chardon and Middlefield libraries for 12 years after her children were grown. She hosted the Children’s story hour for a number of years. The popular event was loved by many listeners who collectively presented her with many Valentine, Christmas, and thank you cards for their appreciation.

She was a master at maintaining and collecting archives for both the Stanton and Waage families.

She loved each and every stray animal that her 6 kids brought home. Barney, her rescued kitty will miss her the most. Daughter, Judy will now care for him. He’s a lucky boy!
