James Arthur Freeman, Jr. 81 of Middlefield passed away Sunday July 30, 2023, at the Davis Simpson Hospice House. He was born August 16, 1941, in East Cleveland to the late James and Grace (Moyer) Freeman. He graduated from Willoughby schools and attended The Ohio State University agricultural program.
James worked for Coe Manufacturing, was a sales representative for McNess Products, drove bus for several local school districts, did lumberjack shows across the country and Canada with the Hank Peters Lumberjack Shows which he purchased in 1996, did some farming, hauled pallets for Miller Pallets, owned Freeman Stakes and Wood Products, made maple syrup, and managed the sugarhouse operations at the Maple Festival until 1995. He was inducted into the Geauga County Maple Syrup Hall of Fame as the 57th inductee in 2009.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Elaine of 20 years, sons, James, Robert, Kenneth, Matthew, daughter Rebecca, step-daughter Sue, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday August 2, 2023, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, Ohio 44062, from 10:00 AM until the Celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor James George officiating. His final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Mesopotamia, OH. Following his service.
