James Lee Warren 86, of Huntsburg, passed away Tuesday morning January 17, 2023. He was born May 20, 1936, to the late Lee and Violet May (Young) Warren in Chardon, Ohio. He graduated from Chardon High School in 1954 and then joined the US Air Force. Jim served during Korea with the 99th & 92nd Strategic Air Command. He attended Kent State University for 2 years. He was an international sales manager for Newbury Industries where he retired in 1985. Along with being a proud Veteran, James was very active in many local organizations. He was a member of the Burton American Legion for 37 years, worked at the Geauga County Sheriff Department as a Deputy and Dispatcher for 14 years, Burton Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years, and was one of the founding members and was Captain of Burton Rescue Squad, Civil War reenactor with the 1st Ohio OVI. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, playing the drums and enjoyed being Santa Clause during Christmas parties.
James will be greatly missed by his wife Eleanor, married 67 years, children Gary Warren, Debra (Mark) Miller, David (Mary Ellen) Warren, brothers, Fred (Patti) Warren and Robert Warren and 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Lamont Warren.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 PM, with a service at 4:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, with Pastor Bob Richardson officiating. Military Honors will follow the service, at the Funeral Home, by the Burton American Legion with bag pipes to follow. Burial will take place at a later date at Huntsburg cemetery.
Memorial donation can be made in James’s name to The Accessible Legion Fund, PO Box 608 , Middlefield, Ohio 44062. Proceeds will help defray the cost of installing handicap accessibility to the Burton American Legion Post.
