James R. Kleppel, age 80, of Claridon Township, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at UH Geau-ga Hospital.
James was born on December 10, 1944, to Joseph and Dorothy (Hulka) Kleppel in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Chardon High School and went on to attend trade school, He served in the US Army raising to the rank of Sergeant and was a helicopter mechanic excelling in mechanics for heavy equipment. James later worked for CCM and C&J, where he built a respected career.
James had a deep love for his flower garden and enjoyed tinkering with small equipment, truly a jack of all trades. He had a fondness for animals and was a devoted Christian, living a life guided by his faith and values.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; sons Danny and Mike Kleppel; daughter Julie (Matt) Roberts; grandchildren Megan and Stephan Roberts; sister Ruth Nizman, brother-in-law Frank Sullivan, sister-in-law Jeannie (Bill) Mast; and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his late parents, two infant brothers, sisters Maryann Dunning, and Barb Bukovac, and stepdaughter Keri Boyton.
In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family at wecare@slyffh.com.
