James A. Curry, 80, of Parkman Township, formerly of Windham, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 15, 2023. He was born in DuBois, PA May 19, 1943, to the late Charles LeRoy and Erma Arminita (Frantz) Curry. He served in the US Air Force during Vietnam from 1961-1969 rising to the rank of Sergeant. James married the love of his life, Carole Ann Miller on January 17, 1964.
Jim worked for the Eaton Corporation and KraftMaid Cabinetry. After he retired, he was an Amish taxi driver.
He was a member of Abundant Life Church and Burton American Legion. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and bird watching.
He will be greatly missed by his three children, Christine (Joseph) Kerr, James A. (Kim) Curry, and Jennifer (Erica) Curry-Hoard, 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Chad, Samuel, Lawrence, Cassie, and Julia, 1 great grandchild Camden. He is also survived by his brother, Robert L. (Betty) Curry. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann Curry on January 7, 2019, and his sisters, Dolores VanKirk, and Nita Rowley.
Calling hours will be held 2:00-4:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:00 PM Tuesday December 19, 2023, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. Pastor Mike Continenza will be officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, December 20, 2023. at 12:45 PM. (Meet at the Cemetery promptly at 12:30 PM) at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
