Howard L. Mansfield, 99 of Hamden Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was born April 26, 1926 in Chesterland to the late Harland and Eunice (Burr) Mansfield. Howard graduated from Chester Township High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served over 2 years on several bases in Hawaii including Honolulu. He worked at Nickel Plate Railroad following his discharge. Additionally, he worked for Moss Farm Dairy and West Geauga High School. He married the love of his life, Ethel Friihauf, on June 7, 1950. Howard enjoyed traveling having visited Hawaii, National Parks (Yellowstone, etc.), New England, Florida, and regional tours. On October 11, 1964, he acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He will be missed by his daughter Kathleen (John) Marn, and son, Denis Mansfield. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, his son John Mansfield, grandson Jeremy Marn, and brothers Raymond and Earl Mansfield.
A Graveside Service will be held at Chester Township Cemetery, 12250 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH with Pastor Bob Bauman officiating on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11 am.
