Hershel L. Loftus, 82, of Claridon Township, passed away peacefully February 5, 2022, at UH Geauga Medical Center.  He was born August 29, 1939, to the late Thomas and Verdie (Sutphin) Loftus in Seth, WV.  He later moved to Connecticut, finally settling in Ohio for the last 55 years.  He served the United States military in the Army and married his sweetheart Francine (Crowley) in December of 1967.  They celebrated 54 years together, raising their family and growing old together.  Hershel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and belonged to the Rod and Reel Club in Fairport.  Every chance he got he enjoyed fishing for perch and walleye out on Lake Erie. He could literally fix anything that needed tended to around the house.  Hershel made certain he attended his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and would often coach the teams, cheering them all on.  His grandchildren taught Hershel how to use Snap Chat during the Covid lockdown, and he became the “King of Snap Chat”, keeping in touch with his family every day, however making a phone call was a different story.  Hershel’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled his life, and they were his everything.
