Helen “Billie” Clarke Sudyk, age 98, lifelong resident of Huntsburg, passed away Sunday morning, November 14, 2021, at Maplewood Senior Living in Munson. She was born on August 14, 1923, in Huntsburg, daughter of Hal and Ethel (Grace) Clarke. After graduating from Huntsburg High School, she married the love of her life John R. Sudyk on December 16, 1945. They were married over 75 years and lived in Huntsburg. You would always see them everywhere together showing great love for one another. They were members of the Huntsburg Congregational Church. During the war Helen worked for Chase Brass and later at JP Propane as a secretary. Billie was the local historian expert of Huntsburg and Clarke family history. She was a proud member of the Huntsburg Historical Society and her heritage. Many people came to her for her knowledge. Likewise, she loved sharing and extending her knowledge to children in many classrooms about life in the 1800’s. Sharing stories of the women of the Clarke family through the “Hat Tale” program to many organizations were rewarding to her.
If you ever need a mom or grandmother, Billie was there for you. She deeply cared for others. As a wife and mother, she was very loving, caring, and giving person. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were important to her life as well. Volunteering at school functions, at the hospital, and her church activities were fulfilling to her throughout her life. As you can see Billie was a person with a big heart who gave her friendship, knowledge, energy and love to all of her loves in life.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, her beloved husband John R. Sudyk, her daughter Lucinda “Cindy” Hopkins, her son John “Jack” Sudyk, her grandson Christopher Hopkins, two great grandchildren, Haley Brown and Madison Brown, and her sister Kay Dietrich.
