Gene Tropf of Middlefield passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024, at UH Medical Center after living with COPD for many years. Gene was born July 7, 1936, to Reinhardt and Velma Tropf. He grew up in Mayfield Heights before moving to Middlefield. He worked for over 55 years at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
Gene married Jennie (Ricker) in 1961. They had two children: Barb and Tom. Gene loved to walk with his wife around Middlefield or at Swine Creek Park. He was an avid sports fan. ln addition to attending his children's sports events, he enjoyed watching the Browns, Cavs, and Indians/Guardians. He was always looking for sports to watch on tv. He looked forward to Friday night visits from his nieces: Janice and Nancy. He was a great friend and neighbor and enjoyed chatting with everyone. He spent many nights sitting on his brother-in-law's porch in Troy. Gene is survived by his children, daughter, Barbara Tropf and son Thomas (Jennifer) Tropf. He leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews, Sister-in-law, Marge Tropf, and family friend, Michelle Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jennie, brothers (Glenn and Bob) sisters (Myrtle, Laverne, and Dorothy)
As per Gene's wishes, no arrangements for a gathering will be made. Please remember to spend time with your family and friends.
