Gary D. Letterle

Gary Letterle, 76 of West Farmington, was born June 2, 1947, and passed away, due to a heart blockage, on November 6, 2023.  He is survived by his loving wife, Larisa, daughter, Cathy (Jon) Jackson, and son, David Letterle; his grandsons Elijah and Elisha (Alexandra); his uncle, Nick Letterle and his children Brian Letterle and family and Jennifer McDonough and family; his cousins Steve, Nicholas, Roger, Clarence “Skip”, Billy, and Beth. He is predeceased by his parents Elroy and Ruth “Billy” Letterle, his sister Cheryl, aunt, Pat, and his uncle, Clarence “Junior”.

Gary was an Airforce mechanic with the rank of sergeant and a Vietnam veteran. He worked as an electronic technician at LTV steel in Cleveland OH till retirement.  He has been an active member of his local VFW post 7200 in West Farmington OH and served as Post Commander in 2007 and 2008. He was a devoted member of the West Farmington Methodist church.  He loved helping his community of neighbors and fellow vets. He enjoyed farming his land, motorcycle riding, vampire movies, and all things space related.  And we can’t forget his love for Star Trek (original series only) He also earned his black belt in Karate. His favorite times were spent with Larisa at the BWW playing trivia.  They were the trivia champ duo, and their trivia name was “lovers”. He also loved to quote General Patton, tell tall entertaining tales, and making everybody laugh with his practical jokes.

Calling hours will be held from 12:00 PM until his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM Monday November 13, 2023 at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062. Pastor Jim George will be officiation. He will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington following the services.
