Eva Rose (Hamby, Winton) McGee
March 18, 1933-January 17, 2020 (age 86)
Mrs. McGee passed from this life into life eternal in the early morning hours of Friday January 17, 2020 at Lynchburg Nursing Center in Lynchburg Tn. A native of Grundy County Tn., she spent much of her life in Mentor Ohio where she and her late husband Bill Winton raised their family. She worked for Mentor schools in the kitchen, and worked as a caregiver and a nanny for a number of years. They moved back to Tennessee to Franklin County in 2003. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother, where she loved her role as a homemaker. She loved cooking, gardening, and entertaining guests, especially her family. She always had a smile and a love for all. She was a member of Campground Freewill Baptist Church, and later a member of Broadview Baptist Church, and a lover of bluegrass and gospel music.
Mrs. McGee is preceded in death by her mother Nila Parsons Hamby, her father Horace Hamby, her first husband Bill Winton, two brothers, and two sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her loss, her husband of 5 years Hubert McGee of Winchester TN, daughter Pamela (Jim) Wilmot of Burton OH, son Michael (Ilean) Winton of Birmingham Al, sister Catherine Crownover of Pelham TN, brother Henry (Lorena) Hamby also of Pelham TN, granddaughter Vanessa (Ryan) Henderson of Seattle WA, and grandson Luke (Danielle) Wilmot of Columbus OH, a step grandson and 5 step great grandchildren from Gastonia, NC
The family will receive friends at Sly Family Funeral Home in Middlefield OH from 10:00 AM until the time of her service which will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020. A graveside service will follow where Mrs. McGee will be laid to rest alongside her first husband in the Claridon Center Cemetery in Claridon Township OH.
