Eugene Raymond “Gene” Carey, 76 of Welshfield passed away Tuesday November 26, 2019 at UH Medical Center in Cleveland with his family at his side. He was born October 12, 1943 in Claridon to the late Edward and Alice (Teichman) Carey. He graduated from Burton High School and attended Cleveland State University. Gene worked for many companies in highway construction. He was a member of the Operating Engineers, Local 18. Gene enjoyed racing at Thompson Raceway, playing blackjack, and loved his grandchildren, especially when he was picking on them.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda (Rummel) Carey, his loving children, Cliff (Nicole) Carey, Phillip (Patti) Carey, Doug (Tara) Carey, Josie (Jeff) Orosz, grandchildren, Rylan, McKenzie, Kiley, Ashley, Halle, Zach, Riley, Haley, and Elizabeth. He also will be missed by his aunt, Marge Cornish, two sisters, Phyllis Paulitsch and Patricia Dobay. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Gathering of Family and Friends to Celebrate His Life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday December 15, 2019 at the, Troy Community House, 13950 Main Market Rd, Burton, OH 44021.
