Ernest D. "Ernie" Burkett

Ernest “Ernie” Burkett, 90 of Newbury passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born September 20, 1934, to the late Lester Burkett and Ida Burkett-Tresler in Apollo, PA.  He was a 51 year resident of Newbury and a USMC Veteran, Buckey Buckley Platoon from 1953-1956. He worked for Heinen's as a Meat Cutter for 27 years before his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, and travelling with his family. 

Ernie is survived by his loving children, Richard Burkett, Ramona (John) Bonness, grandchildren, Nicholas, Sean, Annmarie, and Nathan Bonness. Siblings, Judy (Donald) Kovitch, Don (Karen) Tresler, Gerry (Missy) Tresler, Nancy Tresler, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Wally, brother, James Tresler, sisters, Georgiana Wells, and Erma Price.  

A time of sharing by family and friends will be held 11:00 AM Saturday December 14, 2024, at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St, Middlefield, OH 44062. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Newbury Center Cemetery.
