Elmer “Ray” Druhot, 95 of Chardon passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born September 12, 1927, to the late Edward and Ida Mae (Swonger) Druhot in Benton, Ohio.
Ray was very patriotic and served in the Army during WWII as a Light Tank Commander, serving in Germany and France. After returning home, he went on to work at Chardon Rubber/Ball Corporation for 46 years before retiring as a supervisor. He was on “Over the Hill Senior Golf League” at Rolling Green in Huntsburg and was fondly known as “The Colonel” because of his goatee and broad brimmed hat.
Ray was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Browns. Each year he would state that the Browns would be going to the next Super Bowl, he jokingly “saw them buying their tickets”! After retirement, he splurged and purchased a Lincoln Town Car and toured the US in all directions. Ray valued friendship and time spent with his family.
He will be greatly missed by his son Steve (Jill) Druhot, grandchildren Lindsay, Kelsey, Stephen and Zachary Druhot and great grandchildren Aiden Druhot and Asher Hulsberg.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Opal Havel and brother Edward Druhot.
A special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff of Residence of Chardon for their kindness, support and outstanding treatment during his time there.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 10:00AM until the service at 12:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield Ohio with Pastor Mike Continenza officiating. His final resting place will be at Middlefield Cemetery, Middlefield Ohio immediately following the service.
