Edwin Mathias Pollari, age 89, of BriarCliff Manor at Ohman Family Living, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
He was born on February 19, 1935, in Middlefield. Edwin was the son of the late Richard Pollari and Aino (Ojutkangas) Pollari. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Naomi (Miller) Pollari, with whom he shared 60½ years of marriage.
Edwin graduated from Parkman High School and later attended a Dale Carnegie Public Speaking course. He worked at Johnson Rubber for 15 years, followed by Gordon Clark Excavating, Pike's Turkey Farm, and several years with Fritinger Feed and Western Reserve Co-Op. Additionally, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, as a typist for the Sergeant Major He enjoyed traveling and speaking to his Finnish Family
An active and committed member of the Middlefield First United Methodist Church, Edwin served as a lay leader, sang in the choir, and volunteered with pastoral care at Briar Hill Nursing Home. He was also involved in numerous community activities, including serving as past president of the Ohio Poultry Association, a Middlefield Councilman, a member of the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department, and a volunteer at the Middlefield Library.
Edwin is survived by his children, Mark (Lisa) Pollari of Troy and Lisa (Mike) Ludwig of Newbury; his sister, Elaine (Keith) Minnick of Florida; and sisters-in-law, Karen Pollari of Florida and Cathy Johnston of Ohio. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Heather (Keith) Carver, Rachel Darrah, Tyler (Aly) Pollari, Travis (Kelly) Pollari, Turner Pollari, and Tessa (Westen) Riner, as well as great-grandchildren Anyrah Edmiston, Alana Edmiston, Lilith Pollari, and Moriah Riner. Edwin was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Angel Darrah.
He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Richard Pollari, John Pollari, and Kaarlo Pollari, as well as his sisters, Emily Grigus and Eleanor Judd.
A man of strong faith, dedication, and service, Edwin will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who supported Edwin during his life and in his final days.
A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held at a later date.
