Donald Roy Schindler, 89, of Burton Township, formerly of East Cleveland, passed away at his home. He was born February 20, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Roy and Mable (Drake) Schindler. Don retired from General Electric where he worked as a chemical engineer. He was a member of La Mesa Espanola in the Cleveland area. Don was multilingual and a talented artist, photographer, excellent cook and avid reader, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He will be sadly missed by his loving daughters, Elena Schindler of Brunswick, Ohio, Joan (Barry) Fox of Columbia, Maryland, Andrea Schindler of Los Angeles, California; grandsons David Fox and Stephen Fox; sister Joan Rogers, and two nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Gregg) Schindler who died August 3, 2012.
A Graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Welton Cemetery, Goodwin Street in Burton Village. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10:00-12:00 PM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St, Middlefield, OH 44062. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Burton Public Library, P.O. Box 427, Burton, OH 44021 or to the Geauga Park District at Foundation for Geauga Parks, 12373 Kinsman Rd. Unit 113 - Building C, Newbury, OH 44065.
