Donald Markiewicz, 86, of Middlefield, passed away surrounded by his family, February 22, 2020, at Geauga Hospital. He retired from the Cleveland Police Department after serving as a Sergeant for many years. He loved dancing to Polka’s, golfing and bowling, but most of all he loved his family with all his heart.
He was married to the love of his life, Louise for 46 years before her death in 2009.
He is survived by his daughters Jacquelyn (James) Nehas, Sharon (Dennis) D’Amico, Daughter-in Law Sharon Bora, grandchildren Brittany Nehas, Chelsey Nehas, Heather Bora, Matthew (Mandie) Bora, David D’Amico, Michael (Candee) D’Amico, and great-grandson Gavin D’Amico. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Louise, his son Bruce Bora, grandson Eric Bora, and brothers Edmund and Richie Markiewicz.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury, on Friday February 28, 2020, at 11:00 AM (meet at the church).
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield from 4–7 PM. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105-9959.
