Donald Kiviniemi Obituary

Donald Tauno Kiviniemi, 74, of Middlefield, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1951, in Chardon, to the late Tauno and Betty (Nickerson) Kiviniemi.

Don graduated from Cardinal High School in 1969 and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University.. He enjoyed hiking and camping and had a lifelong love of music. Don played the saxophone and performed in many bands, including The Boys Are Back, The Stardusters, and The Gallants.

He worked for National Acme Company, where he designed numerous electrical components, ranging from screw machines (automated lathes) to die machines that assisted in the production of 20 mm military shells.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Donald Kiviniemi Jr.; his brother, Rodney (Bonnie) Kiviniemi; his niece, Kathy McDonald; and his two great-nieces, Madyson (McDonald) Morris and Sydney McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.
