Diane Salona Obituary
Diane G. (Conrad) Salona, 79, a longtime resident of Middlefield, Ohio, passed away on March 2, 2021 at Ohman Family Living at Briar. She was born June 20, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Leonard and Hazel (Pytel) Conrad.
Diane graduated from Kenston High School in 1960. After graduation, she worked at the Chagrin Valley Times where she earned enough money to buy her dream wedding dress. She married Clifford Salona in Chagrin Falls on November 26, 1960. They build their life in Middlefield where they raised their 3 daughters. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary together on Thanksgiving.
Through the years, Diane worked in the office of the Johnson Rubber Company and as a clerk at the Middlefield Public Library. She volunteered at the Geauga Community Hospital where she was just shy of 1000 volunteer hours, at Cardinal Schools, and the Red Cross Blood Mobile. Diane was also a former member of the Middlefield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Diane enjoyed traveling, especially in the southern states. She was very proud of her home and loved to decorate for each season. She also had quite a green thumb and took great pride in her flower gardens. Diane mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Diane will be greatly missed by her husband, Clifford, of 60 years. Daughters: Cheryl (Tom) Clingerman, Marla (Rod) Yoder, Ladine (Jarrett) Gfeller and her grandchildren, Zoey Yoder, Grayson Yoder, and Kinley Gfeller. Her sister Joyce (Mark) Fredrick of Arizona and her sister-in-law Linda Conrad of Texas, whom she remained close with.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ronald and Gary Conrad, and son-in-law, Rodney Yoder.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held at Sly Family Funeral Home on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Please wear a mask and follow current COVID-19 protocol measures. A Private burial will take place at a later date.
