Dennis Donald Freitag

Dennis Donald Freitag, 75, of Middlefield, sadly passed away September 17, 2021, at UH Cleveland Medical Center.  He was born in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Raymond and Elenore (Luby) Freitag on April 12, 1946.  He was the loving husband of Paula Harrington Freitag, with whom he was married for 19 wonderful years.  Dennis was a retired Veteran of the US Army as a First Sergeant for 36 years.  He was a member of the International Law Team, travelled the world during his time in the Army, loved gardening and beautiful flowers, fishing in his beloved pond, and his family.  Little children and small animals gravitated towards him because of his essence of gentleness and protection.

Dennis is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Paula (Harrington) Freitag, two sons, Darren Freitag, David Freitag, his daughter Darcy, stepson Alex (Bonnie) Stanton, brothers, Gerry Freitag, Darrel Freitag, Ron (Margot) Freitag, Dean Freitag, Bill Freitag, sisters-in-law Vicki (Jerry) McCalmont, Ruth (George) Womack, his brother-in-law, Dave (Becky) Harrington, his in-laws, Richard and Helen Harrington, 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many families and friends.

Viewing will be Friday, September 24, 2021, from 12:00 till 2:00pm at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, Ohio, 44062.  Full military honors and funeral service will commence at 2:00pm at the funeral home.  A private burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at a later date.
