Obituary

Charles L. Soltis, 80, of Lancaster, NY, formerly from Marion, OH, went to be with our Heavenly Father, on August 23, after a long illness with Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia. He was surrounded by love.

Charlie was born in Parkman, OH to the late James and Hazel Soltis. He grew up on the Soltis family dairy farm with his three brothers and one sister. He went on to become a Partner at Parrott Implement, a John Deere dealership in Richwood, Ohio, for nearly 40 years. Charlie loved to farm, ride his motorcycle, and watch every high school sporting event especially those played in by his children and grandchildren, but his greatest hobby was flying his airplane.

When Charlie met his wife Susan, it was truly love at first sight!  A blind date on Saturday led to the decision to marry on Tuesday, and they did just that seven months later. Charlie’s blended family was one united family, and he loved to brag about them as often as he could! Charlie and Susan danced through their fairytale together for 36 years!

In addition to his loving wife, Susan, Charlie is survived by his four children, Shazzmarie (Joe) Szkeley, Shara (Bill) Wilcox, Nathan (Kara) Root, Kristina Martin, and his honorary son, Jeff Dine. He was the proud grandpa to Cooper and Zane Dine, Colt Quick, Charlie, Gage, Tinleigh, and Layton Root, and Makayla and Ellie Martin. He is, also, survived by his siblings, Don (Jill) Soltis, Linda (Jerry) Jacobs, Gene Soltis, Jimmy (Cheri) Soltis and his two sister-in-laws, Judy Beno, Jill (Jim) Corbett and many nieces and nephews.  Charlie is preceded in passing by his parents, James and Hazel Soltis and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Soltis.

Susan would like to acknowledge the constant love, support, and nursing skills provided by Charlie’s sister, Linda, from the moment this sad journey started.

Respects can be paid at Christ Covenant Church, 16406 Kinsman Road, Middlefield, OH, on Monday, August 28, from 11-1 with a Christian service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the CURED Foundation to support in the research of Eosinophilic Esophagitis, a disease that affects his son, Nathan, and four of his grandchildren. https://curedfoundation.org/
