Carolyn Wonders Obituary

Carolyn Anne (Krall) Wonders, passed away quietly at her home on July 22nd with her dedicated and loving husband of 50 years, William W. Wonders at her side. She was the youngest daughter of Anthony and Agnes Krall, born in Youngstown, Ohio and residing in nearby Campbell, Ohio through her youth. She leaves behind close family in her husband William W. Wonders, son William P. Wonders, daughter-in-law Erin S. Wonders and granddaughters, Moira and Shannon Wonders. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric W. Wonders.

She attended Campbell Memorial High School, graduating in 1964. She was known by the nickname “Cookers” given by her father and “Noonie”, which is a nickname her nephew gave to her. She had 5 siblings, 2 surviving – Agnes “Agie” Smith of New Jersey and Anthony “Sonny” Krall of Florida. She was preceded in death by her sisters Maryanne Seman, Anna Santelli, Katherine “Kitty” Krall and both of her parents.

Carolyn had a rich cultural upbringing and was an avid musician in her youth. Of Croatian descent, she played in Tamburitza band, frequently performing with her sister “Kitty” at the Strussmayer Croatian Picnic Grounds in the greater Youngstown area. She was also a member of the group, “The Balkan Serenaders”. Carolyn was an accomplished musician, mastering many ethnic instruments such as the double bass, the brac, the violin and the piano. She was well known by her family and fellow musicians for her perfect pitch.

She loved her cats, had many over the years and leaves behind Al, Poncho and Little. As a child she had a family dog named “Bundy” and a Siamese cat named “Sonya”, both of which she always spoke very fondly of. She was a very feminine lady, but as the mother to two boys who were always keeping snakes and spiders for pets, she had to adapt to accommodate them both. She enjoyed family vacations and traveling with her husband, taking two trips to Alaska and landing on the Ruth Glacier in a bush plane.

She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and sibling and will be deeply missed.
