Brandon Michael Case

Brandon Michael Case, 35, of Chardon, unexpectedly passed away following an extended illness on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born March 17, 1988, in Ashtabula to Laura Marks and Michael Case. Brandon was an honorable veteran having served in the U.S. Army during Gulf War under Operation Enduring Freedom. He met the love of his life, his car queen, Christine A. Truman and they wed May 24, 2017. He fondly shared how he remembered crowds of people parting, and everyone staring on their first date to a car show. His passion was tinkering on his trucks and working out proudly, sharing both hobbies with Christine. He loved bartering and you just never knew what he’d come home with or what he traded for it. His enthusiasm and orneriness was intoxicating. His laugh would pull you into a story only he and Sherla would understand. He loved collecting hot wheels and car models., something shared with his beloved wife. He enjoyed Japanese anime, was a member of many jeep groups, but most of his joy was spent collecting beach glass at the lake or fishing with his wife.

He is preceded in death by his cousin, Mark Allen Dales, Uncle Roger and Sheri Shultz, Grandfather Walter Shultz, Grandfather Fred Marks, and one of his closest childhood friends, whom he considered a true brother, Brendon Reichert.

He will be deeply missed and surely never forgotten by his loving wife Christine, his children Jayce, Jeralynn, Chloe, Jourdence, and Leland, his mother Laura Thompson, father Michael Case, maternal grandmother Judith Marks, paternal grandmother Karen Case, aunts Jennifer Marks, Wendy Marks(Dave Burzanko), Uncle David (Tama) Marks, paternal aunts, Marsha Fuller, Trisha Case and Teresa Howington, cousins as close as siblings, Sherla(Joe) Keith, Adam (Tara) Dales, David Derek(Kayla) Marks, Nathaniel Marks, Matthew (Jennifer)Schranghamer, Sean (Kailey)Schranghamer, Megan Marks, lovingly known as “Uncle Monster Leg” by Frank, Zack, Telia, Chase, Preston, Shaylee, Josie, Jon, Jude, and Jacob.

In his personal relations, all who had dealings with him came away stimulated and energized. He was the go-to guy with a plethora of knowledge about cars. Brandon was driven, he wanted to understand the intricates of each part, machine, movement and to master the requisite tool(s) for each task.

He had dreams of Rv’ing across the country with his best friend and soulmate, Christine. He always said to her, “embrace the chaos” as they faced challenges together.

He would never admit it, but a true mama’s boy at heart, the apple of Laura’s eye, her “Bubba Baloo”, never ashamed to be with his Nana, and secretly challenged by Wendy, always Walter’s baby Jake and forever Christine’s silverback.

A true animal lover, his canine companions, Bronx and Bentley always at his side. He enjoyed family weekends at camp, that led to a love of the outdoors and the best friends he found there; relationships built on vulnerability, with the deepest respect and loyalty becoming brothers and splitting everything with each other, inseparable for years.

Forever proud of his children, touting them as his greatest accomplishments and his reason for living. Brandon was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and brave. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as his friends and family would say. He earned several medals, ribbons and certificates during his service as mechanic and as military police, playing a crucial role in conducting traffic control corrections, security and mobility support. He’d often recount a teary-eyed account of a band of brothers in arms, but believed there was a far more fundamental idea motivating the feelings that permeate within a team or squad, and that brotherhood continued long after his service ended as his fellow soldiers would all agree. He was clever, witty and full to the brim with knowledge gained as a mechanic; a barterer; a fisherman; an operator; and always a driver; he could and would drive anything...and boy he’d drive it like he stole it.

He found comfort and peace when fishing with Alex, often reciting his excitement for his personal best catfish caught with his wife at Alex’s property, bickering like brothers, always instigating each other. He found solace and understanding in his bond over vehicles and tinkering with Brendon, often telling stories of wild and crazy adventures; always tearing up the field on the property he shared with is wife. Their brotherhood was always 100 mph with no seat belt on, often leading to fighting each other and hugging later, both with black eyes. Countless hours spent in the gym, he would “always push back, that was the great thing about him, he would push and push” and just when you thought he was done, he’d push himself and others even harder.

A devoted father, leaving the fondest memories, including teaching how to weld and guy talk that Christine wouldn’t approve of, to middle of the night anime marathons, eating chocolate ice cream while everyone slept, to eating as many strawberries as possible at the strawberry festival and manicures/pedicures, teaching how to ride the four wheeler and taking apart things to fix; to having code words and gestures only meant for the guys without Christine knowing and so many more memories in between.

So close, no matter how far

Couldn’t be much more from the heart

Forever trusting who we are

And nothing else matters

Never opened myself up this way

Life is ours, we live it our way

All these words, I don’t just say

Never cared for what they do

Never cared for what they know

But I know.....

Brandon M. Case will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him. No formal services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
