In Loving Memory of Billee Jean Hosmer
Billee Jean Hosmer (nee Smith) entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Burton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Billee was born on March 27, 1929 in St. Marys Ohio, the daughter of the late Ruth Shock and Bill Smith. Loving mother to Dennis Hosmer (Debbie), Rex Hosmer (Linda) and William Hosmer (Laurie). She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Franklin D. Hosmer, her daughter Ruth Ellen Sell (Tom) and son Len Hosmer (Sherry). Early on, Billee lived with her Aunt Rose and Uncle Walt in Troy, Ohio, while her mother worked for Goodyear during World War II. Billee attended Burton High School (Class of 1947), where she met her high school sweetheart and husband Franklin. They married on February 11, 1949 and lived their entire married life together in their home in Burton, where Franklin was born. Billee Jean earned a cosmetology license and provided haircuts for family, friends and children in orphanages. She enjoyed singing, cooking and most importantly caring for her family. The “Boss of the Applesauce” dedicated her life to loving those entrusted to her care, including her husband, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, along with any cat or dog that showed up looking for something to eat and a little TLC. Billee Jean especially enjoyed spoiling her children, grandkids and great grandkids with meals cooked from scratch and her favorite deserts--spice cake, donuts and ice cream treats from the Schwann’s man. Though Dementia may have taken its toll on her mind, her gracious spirit and heart of gold remained as strong as ever until the end. Billee Jean loved her family and friends, and for her, we give thanks to God—for she showed us how to love each other through actions, and with words, when necessary. We invite friends to join us for a celebration of Billee Jean’s life, at a date and time to be announced.
